Activities


1. Formation of an organization –

We have formed BUDDHA DHAMMA PRACHAR SAMITI on 22nd May, 2004.

Aims –

i. To propagate Buddhism in India.
ii. To establish Buddha Dhamma Training Center and run it.
iii. To propagate Buddhism through trained Dhamma Pracharakas so that a society based on Equality, Liberty, Fraternity and Justice would be developed.
iv. To establish Research and Analysis Wing, Orphanage, Hospital, Educational Institutions and Aid and Advice Centre.
v. To organize Cultural Programmes, Functions, Celebrations, Seminars, Trainings, Workshops etc. to propagate Buddhism.

2. Dhamma Weeks –

Programmes of teaching the Dhamma with the aid of music were organized in different areas. The period of each programme was 7 days. The people of nearby areas attended the programme every day. In the musical atmosphere they could easily understand the Dhamma.

3. All India Dhamma Awareness Test –

Every year in the month of August, All India Dhamma Awareness Test based on the book, written by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, “ The Buddha and His Dhamma” is organized. Application forms are distributed from stall No.165&166, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur on the eve of Ashoka Vijaya Dashami. Thereafter, the application forms are distributed from Pragya Printers, Keshav Complex, 10 number pulia, Kamptee Road, Nagpur. Medium of the Test are English, Hindi and Marathi. Topper of each state is awarded prize of Rs.2000/-. Candidates who secure 25% and above are given the certificates. This year the Test shall be held on 10th of August,2014 at about one hundred centres in Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujrat.

4. Training Camps –

It is very much necessary that the Dhamma Pracharakas should have good knowledge of Dhamma. Therfore, Training Camps for them are organized at different places of the country.

5. Buddha Dhamma Sandesh Rallies-

Initially, Bicycle Rallies were organized to propagate Buddhism in limited areas. From last seven years, the Dhamma Pracharakas travel by four wheelers and visit different places continuously for four months. They deliver speeches on Dhamma and distribute literature at each place. In the year 2013-14, the Dhamma Pracharakas visited thousands of villages and cities in the states of Maharasta, Gujrat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. Each year,the rallies start from Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur in the month of October and end at Dhammagiri, Kajalwani (in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh) in the month of February next year.

6. Buddha Dhamma Mahotsav –

Immediately after the end of Budhha Dhamma Sandesh Rally, Budhha Dhamma Mahotsav (grand celebration) is organized at Dhammagiri, Kajalwani, Tah.- Sausar, Distt.- Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh). Dhammagiri is 70 kilometres away from Nagpur. The Mahotsav is organized for 3 days on the eve of Magh Purnima in the month of February every year. In this Mahotsav eminent scholars, thinkers and social activists deliver their speeches on the subjects related to Buddhism and Ambedkarite Movement. Cultural programmes of awakening in nature are performed. People from different parts of India attend the Mahotsav.

7. Literature –

Buddha Dhamma Prachar Samiti has published the following literature.
i. ‘The Buddha and His Dhamma’ in small size in English, Hindi and Marathi and ‘The Buddha or Karl Marx’ in Hindi
ii. ‘Message of the Buddha and 22 vows’, a pocket book in English, Hindi and Marathi and DVD in Hindi.
iii. ‘Bharatiya Sanvidhan ke Mahatvpurn Ansh’, a pocket book on Indian Constitution in Hindi.
iv. ‘Pragya Prakash’, a quarterly magazine in Hindi and Marathi.
v. ‘Calender’ for the year in Hindi and Marathi.
